Welcome to Prudhoe Bay Hotel
The Prudhoe Bay Hotel offers a unique and authentic Alaskan experience set deep within the Arctic Circle, in Anchorage, AK. Rated a solid 4 stars, it serves as a reliable haven for travelers and workers alike who find themselves in this remote oil town. The hotel's location, just a minute's walk from Deadhorse Airport and close to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Pump Station 1, makes it an ideal stop for those exploring Alaska’s rugged industrial landscape.
What stands out most about the Prudhoe Bay Hotel is its blend of simplicity and functionality. Guests consistently highlight the clean and comfortable rooms that provide a restful retreat after long days on the Dalton Highway or in the nearby oil fields. Though modest in size, the rooms cater effectively to the practical needs of visitors. The double beds, while cozy for one, sometimes prove less comfortable for two — a minor yet honest detail that speaks to the hotel’s straightforward nature.
The dining experience here deserves special mention. Included in the room rate are three daily meals, a rare luxury in this remote setting. Guests applaud the chefs for crafting varied, delicious dishes that fuel both rugged workers and curious visitors. The atmosphere is warm and convivial, with polite staff and residents often sharing stories from their life in Alaska’s demanding environment. Notably, the hotel enforces a no-alcohol policy, fostering a respectful and focused community atmosphere that aligns with its industrial surroundings.
The free Wi-Fi and parking add to the convenience, although the hotel does not feature a pool or other leisure amenities common in other establishments. This absence, however, is fitting given its rugged locale and functional mission. The smoke-free environment ensures comfort and health, further enhancing the overall stay.
Ultimately, the Prudhoe Bay Hotel stands as a sturdy, unpretentious base for anyone venturing into one of America’s most extreme and fascinating frontiers. It offers more than just lodging: it provides a glimpse into the daily life and resilient spirit of the Arctic oil industry. For those drawn to unvarnished Alaskan grit and a real sense of place, this hotel delivers in a way few others can.

I drove up there in the summer of 2015. The Dalton highway is amazing. Very surreal to go from pristine Alaska wilderness for miles upon miles to an oil town. The hotel was a blessing though. I planned to sleep in my jeep that night. It’s definitely what you expect but it’s worth it.
Joe at front desk is outstanding. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Price includes 3 meals a day which the chefs do a great job at putting together a varied delicious meal everytime. The rooms are nice and clean. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the double bed would have been fine for a single person, but it bowed in the center, so it was not comfortable for the two of us. I would still stay here again in a heartbeat. Staff is great and the place is very clean
We had a great time here. The food is awesome and is included in the room price. Rooms were small but comfy for the traveler. There is no alcohol served here and guests are not allowed to bring any in. I think that is very reasonable. The staff and other guests are polite and interesting to talk to since they are mostly working in the oil fields and literally live here. The bed was nice and they had TV in the room. There are areas in the hotel to play pool or just relax. But the food is the nice thing. Hot and cold meals in great variety. Fruit and vegetables, fried, burgers, steaks, seafood. You gotta keep those oil workers and tourists happy. Just watch out for bears around here, they can be in the parking lot.
Stayed here a number of times while we had crews working on the slope during the winter. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and food was amazing. Only downside for me and coworkers was we had our meetings in the dining room at night and we ate too much pastries and pie topped with ice cream.
